NGSEN INTERVETIONS

NGSEN is going-on with efforts to engender sustainable energy services in Tanzania through different intervetions. The interventions for the network  are geared towards engendering energy through advocacy, capacity building, awareness raising and information sharing through increased women’s participation, control, ownership and benefit sharing from sustainable energy technologies and services.  The following are on-going network intervetions:

NGSEN Strategic Plan (2011-2015)

The network interventions are led by its strategic plan (2010 – 2015). The strategic plan is a roadmap for engendering energy activities in Tanzania.

The objective of the strategic plan was to provide space for NGSEN to reflect on its current institutional performance. The rationale behind this strategic plan is to mobilize resources, which will contribute to implementing the 2010-1015 strategic responses for the purpose of developing essential capacities to function as network and which will contribute to the achievement of the broad key strategic objectives

National Gender and Sutainable Energy Strengthening Project (Phase I).

The Gender and Energy Network Strengthening Project is a two-year project (2010-2012) intending to implement the NGSEN strategic plan (2010-2015).

The main focus of the project was to establish a formal network structure that would enable it to develop common understanding among its members by setting up administration and management systems; promote the network and member activities, building capacity and skills of the network members to mainstream gender lobby and advocate on gender and energy issues through capacity building trainings.

National Gender and Sutainable Energy Strengthening Project (Phase II).

The project takes into account solutions for challenges encountered during the phase one of the NGSEN Strengthening Project, lessons learnt and pending activities of the strategic plan (2011-2015). The project covers a period of three (3) years (2013-2015) with intention to mobilize resources, which will contribute to the implementation of the strategic responses and developing essential capacities which will enable to achieve the key strategic objectives.

The project will continue to develop NGSEN by building key partnerships, accountability and resource capacity for its growth. Specifically, the project expects to develop critical and essential practices and capacities for effective management and collaboration in the network, develop in-depth concerns and lessons on gender and energy issues around agriculture and health sectors, enhance gender sensitive energy policy and programmes, sustain effective communication and information sharing and enhance institutional capacity of the NGSEN to deliver as network
