Message from the Chairperson

Today is truly a significant day for me to have the great privilege to write for NGSEN website in its new look and contents. I would like to say thank you very much to the web construction team, the web site designers, editors, the members of secretariat and other partners who volunteered and contributed to the construction of this website. Certainly the site will be our formal digital media that will communicate our messages to NGSEN partners, to the community as well as to the public.
National Gender and Sustainable Energy Network (NGSEN) as the solely network for gender and energy in Tanzania has shown all signs of growing with a constant goal of being leaders in the process of engendering energy services in Tanzania. This site is a simple way to access the information needed by partners and interested stakeholders in the energy sector.

During the last two years, NGSEN has been able to maintain our existance with support from both internal and external partner organisations. The partners came together through different meetings and workshops and worked hard to identify opportunities and plan how to exploit them.

Through this website, I would like to see the diversity in our knowledge and works obtained through our activities to the community and adds a level of excitement, exchange, and debate that makes the experience unique. I am convinced the networking will be able to change practices and contribute to reverse the gender imbalance in the energy sector. Obeying to their nature, network provides a fundamental contribution to the positioning of women, not only in access to modern energy, but also in the promotion to higher levels of resource use.

It is our hope that all partners will work together in order to shape the future for our network as well as the community we serve. Let us put our heads and hearts together to make the coming years the most progressive ever for our network and the country over. Through our solidarity, we will grow stronger and prosper.

Tatu Mmanga (Ms)
